Forest City Storm Swim Team

Forest City Storm Swim Team

The Forest City Storm Swim Team is a competitive swim program that has been a part of the Forest City YMCA for over a decade. Swimmers ages 5-18 are welcome to participate, improving their skills while learning to value hard work, reach for excellence, and enjoy spirited competition. The FC Storm swim team has helped to develop numerous state and regional qualifiers every year.

The Storm has three training groups for which swimmers will be assigned based on ability. Practice schedules vary by group and level. Stroke clinics and special events are also important parts of our program.

Our professional YMCA coaching staff provides high quality instruction for all ages and abilities to improve swimming skills, boost confidence, and achieve success while making new friends and having fun.

Registration fees include swim cap, and suit. Fees for non-members also includes a 6 Month youth YMCA membership which is required to swim in our league.

Swimmers will be split into 3 groups based on ability and availability.

-A group for new and experienced 5+ year olds who can swim 25 yards of freestyle (front crawl) without stopping or needing assistance. They also learn the skills necessary to compete such as working with teammates, following directions, and advanced drills.

-A group designed to give swimmers who have some swim team experience or who already have a foundational skill level, a positive and technically sound experience on a swim team. These levels are designed to challenge your child depending on their experience in the sport as well as develop more advanced competitive skills.

-A group designed for the more advanced, competitive swimmer. A more focused training will be given to excel in competitive swimming events.

See seasonal flyers or call the Y for specifics on practice times and days as the may change season to season.

Swim meets are held on Saturdays at various YMCA’s throughout North Iowa. A full meet schedule will be provided once available.
