Smiles And Giggles For 6 Weeks To 2 Years Old
Care for children 6 weeks through 2 years old is housed at the Y’s Hanson Family Life Center. Here, we begin building a child’s future from the day they begin in our care. We work to create the brightest future possible for each child—one activity, one interaction at a time. Parents are kept up to date with a daily sheet that reports feeding times/amounts, diaper changes, nap times and activities that occurred each day. The staff is responsive to each parent’s concerns and suggestions and baby’s achievements are joyfully shared.
Classroom staff are chosen for their nurturing abilities, experience with children, and their educational background. We look for staff who are positive, patient and loving towards all children. Staff are required to attend 10 hours of pre-service training and 6 hours of job-related training after their first year. All staff are trained in CPR, first Aid, Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect, and Universal Precautions. Staff are also required to take 12 hours of DHS coursework within their first 3 months of employment.
Getting Started
The enrollment process is a time not only to complete the required paperwork, but also a time to gain valuable information to meet the needs of your child and meet the center staff. All families must have an enrollment meeting before the child can attend a program. If you are new to the program, a one-time $40 enrollment fee will be applied. Prior to child’s first day of attendance, all required paperwork must be completed and approved by your center director.
